fashionable toe jewelry

I'm not sure that the information I am about to share is blog-worthy, but I thought it was funny (and maybe a little quirky).

Zach has found a new and fashionable alternative to regular toe rings - rubber bands. They come in any color you could want (as long as you're into bright colors) and they're cheap. Give me a call if you're interested in purchasing some - I'll give them to you for a good price - maybe... a buck a piece - you're not going to find a deal like that just anywhere.

Zach found some of these hair rubber bands that I had leftover from Girl's Camp and they have been a hit. He'll put them on his thumbs and on his toes and walk around like he's the cutest thing in the world - he's got me believing.

It is funny to me what kids are interested in... maybe next it will be plastic wrap...

monkey boy

So... we found out Zach's a monkey - I think it comes from the Tucker side. Brandon went to pick Zach up from nursery yesterday and was told that Zach's the biggest climber they have ever had. Case and point: when Brandon went into the room, Zach wasn't playing with toys or running around with the other kids, he was standing on the window sill. I guess he climbs on room items the entire time.

I have to admit I've always known he was a bit crazy, but I thought it was normal for a boy. Most boys I know are crazy. He climbs on the couch and likes to belly flop on the ottoman - he even tried this same action but into his shallow swimming pool (I luckily saved him). He'll even take advantage of when nobody's watching and balance on the couch arms [a big no no in our house - it took weeks to train Brandon not to do it :) ].

For another monkey example, this picture is of Zach at the park just "hanging around". I know... bad joke, but you had to know it was coming sometime.

canadian invasion

Jeff (Brandon's brother) came to visit this past weekend. He is moving to Utah from Canada and needed a place to stay while he was house-hunting. Jack (B's brother), Michelle, and Logan joined the game-fest on Friday, so we had a full house.

A LOT of time was spent playing video games, and less time playing Killer Bunnies and Australian Scrabble (which B and I DOMINATED). However, we were less than dominate at Galactic Mini Golf. Jeff played well... yadda.. yadda... yadda... and Zach really enjoyed hitting the glow-in-the-dark ball with his mini golf club. He would often climb in the putting area to helpfully (or not) collect the other glow-in-the dark balls that were in play.

It was great having the family here! However, one thing is certain, whenever Jeff visits, it is game time all the time.

what died on the lawn?

Okay... so a super high five to the first person who can guess what happened to our grass? I laughed when I peeked out the door and saw this - it looked like something had died on the lawn - and the neighbors keep asking.

It seems like we are in continuous home improvement mode and when it will stop, nobody knows (unfortunately). We are, however, making progress in the basement. The above picture is Grandpa Allan helping Zach carry trim last Saturday.

After one hour of setting up for spraying, two hours of painting trim and doors, and one more cleaning up, Brandon takes a well-deserved break in Zach's pool. And yes, that is a colander. We're hard up for good water toys around here.

blowing kisses?

Today, we watched Maisey (Cade and Kelsey's daughter) and Zach played so well with her. He wanted to keep patting her head and look at her fingers. He was so mesmerized with a person smaller than he was. It was like he recognized that he was the older one.

One thing Zach did that was funny happened when I asked him to give Maisey a kiss. To preface, Zach has been working on blowing kisses, but instead of accelerating his hand as it leaves his mouth, he accelerates it as it goes towards his face. This results in him slapping his face. He keeps doing this because he gets reinforced by me and Brandon’s laughter (it is kinda funny). Thus, when I asked Zach to give Maisey a kiss, he decided to give her a blowing kiss and hit her in the face. LOL. What a silly boy!

(In case any were wondering, Maisey was NOT harmed while in our care! Don't worry, Kels!)

the "moor"

Zach just recently got a new favorite toy - his mower or "moor", as he calls it. Zach's mower has the capability to blow bubbles, but he doesn't know that, so he is perfectly content to push it around and around the yard without anything coming out but mower noises. He would do this all day if we'd let him. It was definitely worth the $15 and he is the new envy of the neighborhood.

child labor laws

Do you think that it's against the law to hire out your 1 1/2 year old as a cleaning man? Zach loves to wipe, scrub, and sweep. In fact, yesterday after we were done cleaning the tub, he asked for more. I'm not sure when this love for cleaning wears off, but I know it's before the age of 26 because I do not have it. Zach is a good helper and we'll often hear the pitter patter of little feet followed by a "help me" (mimicking what I say to him - "you're going to help me?") whenever Brandon or I are doing a task that he wants to help with.
