on the bright side

Zach spilled his glass of milk all over the floor this morning. This happens multiple times a week. He gets distracted and then knocks his cup off the table.

So when I heard his cup hit the floor and his milk slosh over the tile, I exasperatedly exclaimed, "Zach...." Because of the regularity of spilt milk, Zach knew exactly what I was irritated about and optimistically replied, "Didn't pee on the chair though."

I had to laugh. He was right. I would much rather clean up white liquid than yellow.

Halle woke me up this morning at 3 - that's bad even for her.

As I walked into her room, I heard moaning and saw her on her tummy on the floor. Before you start worrying about the long fall my baby must have endured or thinking about the miraculousness of a 3-month-old standing up and climbing out of her crib, I will put your fears to rest by telling you that Halle sleeps on a mattress on the floor.

Very ghetto, but not my fault.

Our crib was recalled. And while we wait for the crib company to replace our crib, my child sleeps on a mattress on the floor of her room. It has actually turned out to be quite handy. No portable crib for me. I have a portable mattress. You want to sleep in the living room? Wham-0! Mattress in the living room. You want to sleep in the master bedroom? No prob, Bob. Mattress in the bedroom.

I guess the only downside is that there's a slight possibility that your baby could shimmy her way over to the edge and roll onto the floor, but this isn't very likely. :D

I still can't figure out how she fell out of bed because I've never seen her get close to rolling during the day. My guess: she does tumbling shows for her stuffed animals during the wee morning hours.

I think tomorrow morning, I'm going to sneak in and see if I can catch Halle doing back flips on her bed. I'll make sure to post the video if I do.
